On Starting Legal English from a Law Student’s Perspective

In this essay, I want to talk a little about my thoughts on how people constantly think about their personal or academic development, but sometimes don’t know where or how to begin.

Almost everyone gets nervous when thinking about how to improve themselves, we actually know this, even this nervousness is a symbol of a desire to improve. But it’s not enough for us. We want more. We want to be different from an “ordinary” person, at least in our department or field. It’s actually like that for me. But we don’t do this for comparison purposes. It’s just that staying where we are gives us a feeling of unease.

I want to get over this now.

To be honest, there’s a reason I’m writing this in English. I feel freer when I write or speak in a language other than my native language because I don’t feel like I’m being judged. I don’t care about it that much anymore. But it’s better for me now. You know, if you are going to start learning Legal English you also need to have good English skills. So, I’m improving both of them now.

I love writing here because I feel I have an area for myself. Besides writing informative articles, I also want to write articles where I candidly pour out my feelings.

Okay, I can talk about the main topic now. It’s about Starting Legal English

Why do I say “From a Law Student’s Perspective”? Because it’s not one of my official, informative articles. So I don’t claim to be. I want to help and share my thoughts on how to start Legal English or another goal and protect your desire for it.

At first, I think we need a flexible plan. So we don’t feel pressured.

And I don’t think it’s a good idea to start by dedicating every day to it because it can make people get bored early and we don’t want that. It’s important to ensure continuity.

Let me state that our goal here is to take that first step to begin. We can’t expect perfection.

You will continue to accompany me on this journey.

To conclude this article, let’s take our first step by learning 5 New Words From Legal English.

  1. CONTRACT

A legally binding agreement between parties.

Example: The contract was signed by both parties.

      2.    BREACH

A violation of a legal duty or agreement.

Example: The breach of contract resulted in damages.

     3. DAMAGES

Money claimed or awarded as compensation.

Example: The court awarded damages to the injured party.

   4. JURISDICTION

The authority of a court to hear a case.

Example: The court lacks jurisdiction over this matter.

 5.  OBLIGATION

       A legal or moral duty.

Example: The parties have contractual obligations.

Finally, let me say this: I wrote this text using my own English skills but I used translation and AI in some parts. I don’t want to have a grammatical mistake in any of my blog writing and I didn’t want to share my texts directly on my blog.

I hope this article will help you and show that you are not alone. There are many people like you. We are improving, we will continue to improve.
